On January 26, 2026, the main span of the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge in Sarawak, Malaysia successfully achieved closure — marking a significant construction milestone and paving the way toward full operational opening.

Located at the estuary of the Lupar River, approximately 112 km from Kuching, this H-pylon double-plane cable-stayed sea-crossing bridge stands as a landmark where river meets sea. With a main span of 324.4 meters and total length of 4,884 metres, it is currently Malaysia's largest single bridge project under construction, Sarawak's longest bridge, and the region's largest π-girder high-pylon cable-stayed bridge.

As the specialized stay cable subcontractor, OVM supplied a complete package of critical components including multi-strand stay cable system, fire protection systems, guide pipes, and magnetorheological dampers — along with professional installation support. Our team deployed the advanced OVM250 stay cable system, optimizing corrosion and fire resistance performance to meet the demanding requirements of this river-crossing, high-load structure.

Once operational, the bridge will seamlessly connect with the existing Pan Borneo Highway, enhancing regional infrastructure and unlocking new economic potential for Sarawak's integrated development.

Congratulations to all project partners on this remarkable achievement!
