OVM Supports World-Record Extradosed Bridge as Qujiang Grand Bridge Achieves Closure
The Qujiang Grand Bridge—a key control project of the Chengdu–Dazhou–Wanzhou High-Speed Railway—was successfully closed recently, marking a major milestone toward the completion of the railway.

With a total length of 1,983.81 meters, the bridge’s main structure spans 557.5 meters, featuring a 278-meter main span. This achievement sets a new world record for the longest span of a double-track high-speed railway extradosed bridge.

The bridge is equipped with 40 stay cables, arranged in a central cable plane with a fan-shaped configuration. Each pylon carries 10 pairs of stay cables, with the longest cable reaching approximately 260 meters and a maximum single-cable weight of 21.1 tons. The total weight of the stay cable system is about 550 tons.
All stay cables adopt OVM’s sixth-generation extradosed stay cable strand system, with OVM responsible for the complete installation of the stay cable system.

During construction, advanced techniques—including pylon-end hanging, girder-end anchoring, rigid traction, and tensioning—were applied. Since mobilization in October 2024, OVM’s site team overcame challenges such as tight working space, multi-interface operations, and stringent geometric control requirements. Through meticulous construction management and strong team coordination, the project achieved high-precision deck alignment control, completing all stay cable installation works in October 2025.

This accomplishment provided critical technical support for the bridge’s precise closure and once again demonstrates OVM’s expertise in extradosed bridge systems for high-speed railway infrastructure.
