Exciting Milestone for the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge!

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan - Bolikhamsai), connecting Thailand and Laos. On June 6, 2025, the main bridge achieved full closure as leaders from Laos and Thailand jointly poured the final concrete. This accomplishment marks the first extra-dosed bridge across the Laos-Thailand border to achieve full closure of the main bridge, laying a solid foundation for the project to be fully completed and open to traffic by the end of this year!

Designed as an extra-dosed bridge, it spans 810 meters with a main span of 150 meters, making it Laos' first highway bridge to utilize modern cable-stayed technology. The bridge features four pylons, each equipped with six stay cables.

As the OVM, we are proud to have contributed to this project by providing:

Post-tensioning system

Multi-strand stay cable system

Cable installation guidance services

The successful construction of this bridge will increase the land trade routes between Laos and Thailand to five, significantly boosting cross-border freight volume. While greatly promoting cross-border trade, investment, and tourism development, and injecting new impetus into regional economic integration, it will also reduce logistics time and costs, further enhancing the competitiveness of Laos and Thailand on the global stage. With the successful closure of the main bridge, the project will fully shift to the asphalt paving of the bridge deck and the construction of ancillary facilities, and is expected to be officially opened to traffic by the end of 2025.

Congratulations to our teams and our clients on this remarkable achievement!
